New MultiVersus videos show gameplay for Harley Quinn and Batman

Tier 5 is the characters who really shouldn’t be played either due to their moveset or the fact that they have bigger problems right now. If you were hoping Taz is still a menace, unfortunately, his recent nerf has dropped his power down quite a bit. This Looney Tunes character is a Bruiser archetype character for a reason – he can barrel through enemies with ease and hit hard both up close and from a distance. He can also turn enemies into cooked chicken with his Bottomless Pit Passive Ability, which also allows him to heal.

MultiVersus features many ways to play, but the primary focus is onfast-paced, 2v2battles. The result is that characters and combos were created with this in mind, and doubles battles are truly amazing. That being said, MultiVersus handles 1v1 matches and free-for-alls quite well, and they feel equally as rounded out as 2v2.

We didn’t think we’d be saying this, but we know how Elmer Fudd feels. Bugs Bunny is a menace in and out of MultiVersus and that makes him a top-tier character. Another character that excels at a distance and at close range, Bugs Bunny can surprise enemies thanks to being a Hybrid class. When it comes to his attacks and specials his bombs are great at disrupting enemies, while the Bat-Slide and Batarang projectiles can have the air and ground covered, while he isn’t darting about from place to place.

Some characters also have variants, or skins, based on other characters, such as Uncle Shagworthy and Cake being skins of Shaggy and Jake, respectively. Characters can be unlocked through gameplay or purchased using Character Tokens included with the "Founder's Pack" content packages, with a rotating selection of characters available for all players to use. New characters are planned to be added to the game as post-launch content. The open beta for the game officially started July 26, starting with 17 characters including Superman, Shaggy, The Iron Giant, Bugs Bunny, and more .

Closed alpha footage reveals characters from the all-new free-to-play, platform fighter videogame in action. Many years later, we’re still seeing companies make fighting games using different properties and characters they own. In 2012, Sony released PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, a fighting game featuring a slew of PlayStation characters. And just last year, Nickelodeon released Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Gigantic fighting games filled with fun crossovers and surprising guest characters aren’t unheard of. The original Super Smash Bros. game was a Nintendo fan’s biggest dream because it saw the company’s biggest franchises clash together.

As a free-to-play title, monetization is to be expected in MultiVersus—in the form of Gold, the freemium currency, and Gleamium, the premium currency. While you can unlock all characters with Gold, the rate at which you earn Gold is incredibly slow, and you will need to grind. Nearly everything else is purchased using Gleamium, but characters can also be bought with this. MultiVersus will go into Open Beta in July on PlayStation and Xbox Consoles as well as PC, including cross-play support. It’s available to play right now in open beta format on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. However, with the arrival of the vulgar duo comes the official full release of the game with Season 1.

The release date for when Rick and Morty will start to come out in MultiVersus has been delayed but some skins have leaked with gameplay animations. Fans can also take solace in the fact that WB Games seems to be starting its full marketing campaign for the game in earnest, so there's a chance that the game will be released in the first part of 2022. The bigger question here is how much content in MultiVersus isn’t multiplayer. We already stated that the game is designed for 2v2, but also allows 1v1 and four-player free for all, but no specific modes outside of the standard have been shown. We do know there will at least be ranked playlists for multiverse beta gameplay those looking to take the game more seriously, but for the moment, that’s all we know.
